Racing Incident Report
PERFECT SHADOW was slow to begin. From a barrier towards the outside, EUPHORIC KID was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners close to the rail, then at about the 900 Metres was steadied when crowded for room between PERFECT SHADOW and MONETARY STAR which when proving difficult to settle shifted in. Form a wide barrier, SUPREME STAR began awkwardly, was then ridden along in the early stages to go forward, was unable to clear runners to its inside and therefore raced in a forward position and without cover. On straightening, SUPREME STAR commenced to give ground. The performance of SUPREME STAR, a last start winner, which tailed out today, was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also on straightening, CHARMING STRIDE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPREME STAR. For some distance after straightening, CHARMING STRIDE was then held up for running to the inside of SUPREME STAR. In the early part of the Straight, FLAGS UP had some difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 300 Metres, MONETARY STAR was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of JUST VICTORY. After the 200 Metres, FIGHTING MASCOT, which was giving ground, was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between THUNDER MAN and TURF LUCK, both of which shifted ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. In the Straight, JUST VICTORY hung in. SUPREME STAR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of SUPREME STAR after the race did not reveal any significant findings. KING OF FISH, MIRACLES and EUPHORIC KID were sent for sampling.
