Racing Incident Report
The Senior Veterinary Surgeon reported while parading, AMOUR became unruly, kicked out with both hind legs and made contact with the railing. After arriving at the Start, AMOUR was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. EVEN TILDEN began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of CASH KING. AMOUR began awkwardly, got its head up and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between HONOUR GRADE and WONDERFUL WIN which shifted in. GOLD RICE BOWL began awkwardly, got its head up and as a consequence lost ground. Shortly after the start, LUCKY LUCKY and SALUT BEAUTE were checked and crowded for room between HONOUR GRADE and NOBLE HERO which shifted out after being bumped by LASER GLORY. At the 1000 Metres, EVEN TILDEN became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room between AMOUR which shifted out and CASH KING which shifted in. Throughout the race, AMOUR, which was having its first start, raced greenly, at the 800 Metres shifted in when not clear of NOBLE HERO, causing that horse to be steadied. AMOUR then continued to hang in until making the turn at the 600 Metres when it commenced to hang out. This caused inconvenience to WONDERFUL WIN and HAPPY ECLIPSE. EVEN TILDEN, which was following WONDERFUL WIN, was checked in consequence and GOLD RICE BOWL was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of EVEN TILDEN. The performance of AMOUR was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. NOBLE HERO hung out making the Home Turn. D Whyte (CASH KING) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse where it felt comfortable. He said CASH KING began well, he did not ride along in the early stages, the horse immediately dropped the bit and commenced to get back in the field. He said at about the 800 Metres he steadied CASH KING momentarily when DO IT WELL shifted across his running when barely clear, causing him to lose further ground. After this incident, he said CASH KING travelled satisfactorily at the rear until commencing to make the turn at the 700 Metres when it became unbalanced and hung out badly. He said CASH KING continued to race ungenerously around the turn, in the early part of the Straight he ensured the horse was properly balanced before placing it under pressure. When he did so, CASH KING immediately commenced to hang in, obliging him to stop riding and straighten his mount after the 200 Metres. He said after this the horse closed the race off very strongly. D Whyte conceded the manner in which he rode CASH KING in the early stages of tonight's race allowed the horse to get too far out of its ground and in hindsight he should have done more to hold a more favourable position in the early stages. D Whyte was told the riding of CASH KING, particularly in the early stages, had come under notice and he was to ensure, especially in sprint races, not to allow his mount to give up too much ground, thereby setting it what may in slightly different circumstances be deemed an impossible task. NOBLE HERO and HONOUR GRADE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that HONOUR GRADE was bleeding from both nostrils.
