Racing Incident Report

Acting on veterinary advice that CHINOOK had swelling in its left hind leg and was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the horse to be withdrawn. Before CHINOOK can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. RAIDER was slowly away. MAGNIFIER, which was standing with its head turned slightly to the right side, missed the start. EQUATOR KID jumped awkwardly and threw its head up. Running towards the 800 Metres, LUCKY SIX, which was inclined to be pulling, got close to the heels of MY HONOUR, shifted out slightly, then raced tight inside ASIA RISING and close to the heels of KIDDYLAND. At about the 800 Metres, LUCKY SIX got its head up and shifted onto the heels of KIDDYLAND. In relation to this incident, no action was taken. Near the 800 Metres, KIDDYLAND threw its head up when being checked to avoid the heels of STARWAY PATROL (C Soumillon) which shifted in when not clear. Whilst the Stewards were of the opinion that a case of careless riding could be fairly made out against C Soumillon, they decided in the special circumstances of today to proceed no further than record a severe reprimand against him. He was however told similar riding from him will not be condoned. He was told at the conclusion of the inquiry that it is expected he will provide more straightforward evidence with these matters. RAIDER and KIDDYLAND were sent for sampling.
