Racing Incident Report
PRINCELY HORSE and SHANGHAI FRIEND missed the start. When the gates opened, SURE FIT bounded in the air, threw its head about and when being steadied to take up a rearward position just after the start continued to throw its head in the air. On jumping, ON SHAN EXPRESS was crowded for room between MONETARY STAR and MONEY COLT, both of which shifted ground, then in the middle stages was inclined to pull and threw its head about. In the early stages, HIGHLIGHT, which was racing wide, proved somewhat difficult to settle and several times threw its head about. For some distance near the 600 Metres, TELECOM BABE raced awkwardly between SUNNY DESERT and KALIMANTAN. MONETARY STAR, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of TELECOM BABE. About the 200 Metres, SHANGHAI FRIEND (H K Yim) endeavoured to shift out, in doing so bumped the hindquarters of MEMBERS GLORY. H K Yim was told he should exercise more care than this when shifting ground. O Doleuze (MEMBERS GLORY) explained before the race he had sought out a member of the Panel and explained it was the intention to ride the horse quietly and make his run on the outside. When questioned, he said last season MEMBERS GLORY had run well from the back, at its last start when ridden amongst horses and towards the middle had not finished off and was very disappointing. O Doleuze said the horse works well in the morning and it was hoped it would run well today. He said because of the C+3 track he eased in the early stages and went to the outside to make sure the horse had an uninterrupted run. He concluded however by saying in the run to the line MEMBERS GLORY did not finish off as hoped, was generally speaking one paced and it may be that MEMBERS GLORY is looking for more ground. KALIMANTAN and MEHBOOB THE THIRD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said SURE FIT was making an abnormal breathing noise. However, at this time he is of the view no further action is required.
