Racing Incident Report
When being weighed before the race, LEGEND'S GLORY sustained a laceration to its right hind pastern. The horse was examined before being saddled and passed suitable to race, was again examined before being boxed and again passed suitable to race. On the way to the Start, APRIL HARE made contact with a rail. At the Start the horse was examined and passed suitable to race. After being boxed, LONGMARK became fractious, lunged forward and bumped its head on the front of the gates. Over the concluding stages, LONGMARK tailed off. The performance of the horse was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. HOLY QUEST left the gates awkwardly, bumped its head on the outside of its starting stall, then in the early stages hung out. When the gates opened, APRIL HARE reared, came from the gates very awkwardly, shifted out and was difficult to control. As a consequence of this, APRIL HARE lost a lot of ground and got well back. Before APRIL HARE can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. From the outside gate, TOP QUALITY was immediately steadied on jumping, shifted across behind the field to take up a position towards the rear but close to the rail. Just after the 400 Metres, WAIALAE WIN was momentarily awkward on the heels of ZINEDINE. LONGMARK was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. An examination of LONGMARK after the race revealed no abnormalities. HOLY QUEST, SUGAR AND SPICE and WAIALAE WIN were sent for sampling. On pulling up, it was noted HOLY QUEST was making an abnormal breathing noise. The Veterinary Officer examined the horse. An endoscopic examination was carried out and he said this indicated the horse was in the early stages of becoming a roarer, however, no further action is required at this time.
