Racing Incident Report
STOIC left the gates awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with NEW FACE. MONEY WINS was slowly away. For some distance near the 1000 Metres, STOIC, which was proving somewhat difficult to settle, was unbalanced when racing close to the heels of CHAMPION SYSTEM. E Legrix (ELEGANCE) said before the race it was decided because of the anticipated pace he would try and ride ELEGANCE just behind the lead. He said the horse left the gates well, but then as a number of runners crossed from the outside, he could not take up a position behind the anticipated leader, SOLAR EMPIRE, and got much further back than planned. He said when ELEGANCE was amongst other horses, it was reluctant to stretch out. He added about the 1000 Metres ELEGANCE became rather badly unbalanced when bumped by TURF LUCK. He went on to say approaching and rounding the Home Turn he was inconvenienced by LUCKY VICTORIES which shifted out away from TURF LUCK. The explanations submitted by E Legrix were accepted. NEW FACE and CHIVAS LAD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CHAMPION SYSTEM had sustained a cut to its upper gum. The performance of CHAMPION SYSTEM, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it must perform satisfactorily and competitively in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination.
