Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, ESCALATION became fractious and reared several times. Before ESCALATION can race again, it has to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Turning out of the Straight the first time, AMERICAN CHAMPION was momentarily crowded by ESCALATION. About the 200 Metres, QUICK STEP was momentarily steadied behind ACE OF PACE which was giving ground. A Marcus (ESCALATION) said about the 400 Metres the horse became unbalanced and blundered. Because of this, he did not ride it out to the finish as he normally would. G Schofield (EMPIRE COURT) said from a good draw tonight, it had been his intention to take up a forward position if possible. He said EMPIRE COURT did not jump as he hoped it would, at no stage travelled as expected and was very disappointing. He was of the opinion the run tonight could be attributed to the horse's inability to handle the track conditions. EMPIRE COURT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, EMPIRE COURT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. PACKING ANGEL and CHARIOT OF WEI HAI were sent for sampling.
