Racing Incident Report
I WIN was withdrawn on 29.9.02 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter SAMMY TREASURE (R Quinn). Before I WIN can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. On jumping, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT was checked when crowded between WINWIN COMBO and PO ON WIN which shifted out abruptly away from NAMJONG SPIRIT which also on leaving the gates shifted out. PRINCELY HORSE jumped awkwardly and threw its head about, then from a difficult gate was obliged to travel wide throughout and without any cover. Apprentice M W Leung (PRINCELY HORSE) said in the run to the winning post, he considered the horse was unbalanced, hanging in, because of this he did not ride it out in his normal fashion. Near the 800 Metres, SALUZI was steadied when crowded between SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT and WISE CHOICE which was endeavouring to find a position behind LION ROCK. After this incident, SALUZI shifted to the inside of SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT, then near the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between KING'S PATROL and SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT. To obtain running, SALUZI after this was shifted out abruptly. Approaching the Home Turn, MASTER MAGIC shifted out from behind KING'S PATROL, brushed LION ROCK and for some distance obliged that horse to race wider. Rounding the Home Turn, SAMMY TREASURE, which was starting to give ground, hung out away from PO ON WIN. Rounding the latter part of the turn and in the early part of the Straight, EARL GREY was held up behind SAMMY TREASURE and just inside the hindquarters of KING'S PATROL. EARL GREY was able to obtain clear running approaching the 200 Metres. In the run to the winning post, WISE CHOICE (E Saint-Martin) shifted in towards WINWIN COMBO. Right on the winning post, E Saint-Martin stopped riding and straightened. Near the winning post, E Saint-Martin was hit on the hand by the whip of M Cahill (WINWIN COMBO). After the race, he was examined by the Club's doctor who said he was fit to continue his further engagements. WISE CHOICE and WINWIN COMBO were sent for sampling.
