Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, SELF FLIT and THUNDER STORM bounded in the air. DESERT STORM was slowly away, then was further inconvenienced when tightened between FERRULE and VALUATE which shifted out. In the early stages, THUNDER STORM pulled, got its head up and proved somewhat difficult to settle. About the 300 Metres, COLOURFUL ERA was checked when disappointed for running between DANRIVA and THUNDER STORM (A Marcus) which shifted in. A Marcus was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care. NEVER SAY NEVER made the Home Turn awkwardly and hung out. W Woods (ENERGY VITALITY) said he had ridden the horse in some of its work at recent times which in his opinion was not terribly impressive although it was expected the horse, because of its ability, would be competitive in today's race. He said he was instructed to try and allow the horse time to settle in the early stages and make his run late as today was the first time ENERGY VITALITY was running over 1400 Metres. He said the horse left the gates well and he had hoped to follow FERRULE, but was unable to keep up, he pulled the whip on ENERGY VITALITY in the middle sages, the horse did not respond at all and dropped out in the concluding stages. He was of the view the horse was sore on pulling up. Before ENERGY VITALITY can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. ENERGY VITALITY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
