Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, PRIME WITNESS bounded in the air. HAPPY MOMENTUM came from the gates awkwardly and threw its head about. A Marcus (GOGGLES) said the horse was standing in the stall for some time before the start and before the break became quite restless. He said just as the gates opened GOGGLES reared, landed awkwardly and as a consequence lost a lot of ground. He went on to say during the race he was having trouble with his vision and in the Straight because of this he checked GOGGLES severely when he ran close to the hindquarters of PRIME WITNESS. GOGGLES and MERIDIAN STAR were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was noted GOGGLES was coughing rather significantly. The Veterinary Surgeon performed an endoscopic examination and this revealed a significant amount of blood in the windpipe of GOGGLES.
