Racing Incident Report

LOVE ON EARTH was examined at the track this morning by three of the Club's Veterinary Surgeons. Those involved were Drs W H Chan, P J Schiff and K H Lam. They agreed that the horse was suitable to race this evening. MILLENNIUMTREASURE left the gates very awkwardly, knuckled and almost fell. BLAZING BOB, which was restless after being boxed, bounded in the air when the gates opened, as a consequence of this lost a considerable amount of ground. Then near the 900 Metres, BLAZING BOB, which was inclined to be pulling, threw its head about when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPRINTER. Near the 800 Metres, SONG FOR SZESZE (W M Lai) momentarily shifted in when not quite clear of GOLDEN MAPLE. As a consequence of this, some tightening occurred to LOVE ON EARTH and SPRINTER which were racing to the inside of GOLDEN MAPLE. W M Lai was told to exercise care at all times when shifting ground. In the run to the winning post, GOLDEN MAPLE had a tendency to lay in. D Dunn (SPRINTER) said in the early part of the Straight he was momentarily held up for running and shifted out to find space, was able to do so before the 200 Metres, but near the 200 Metres when SPRINTER was put under full pressure and hit with the whip, it shifted out rather abruptly towards ABLE MARSHALL, because of this he stopped riding, straightened and changed the whip into his left hand. He said after this SPRINTER continued to shift out and did not close the race off as strongly as he thought it should. SPRINTER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
