Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, H K Yim (POT BLACK) said to the Veterinary Surgeon he was concerned with the horse's action in front. POT BLACK was trotted up, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations it was decided the horse was suitable to race. Then subsequent to the race, POT BLACK was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and no abnormalities were detected. From an outside gate, BULLISH was restrained to take up a position at the rear, closer to the rail. When being restrained, BULLISH threw its head about and became unbalanced when close to the heels of CULLINAN which also left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about, shifted ground and made contact with ILIKETOSMILE. On the first turn, ILIKETOSMILE, which was racing wide, was inclined to lay in. In the early and middle stages, SMART PRINCE had a tendency to pull, several times got its head up when close to the heels of DEREK'S CHOICE. Approaching the winning post, SIGHT FIRST, which was finishing the race off strongly, was steadied when close to the heels of CALIFORNIA KID. FLYING GENERAL and CULLINAN were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
