Racing Incident Report
Prior to being presented in the Parade Ring, the Veterinary Surgeon noted some abrasions to the inside of the off side hind pastern of BLAZING MOON. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and it was then decided it was suitable to race. CARRY THE NEWS left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted in and brushed the hindquarters of GOOD WIN. GOOD LAD jumped awkwardly. Just after the start, the saddle on JOYFUL MASTER shifted back, placing D Whyte at a somewhat disadvantage. Running to the first turn, GRAND STAR proved very difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out abruptly across the heels of FRENCH CONNECTION. About the 700 Metres, GOOD WIN, which was racing close to the heels of SMART PRINCE, shifted out from behind that runner, brushed BEST FOR ALL and obliged that horse to travel wider. On pulling up, A Marcus (GRAND STAR) was of the view that the horse was in an abnormally distressed state. GRAND STAR was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said he was unable to find any significant abnormality. GOOD LAD was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was noted that GOOD WIN was making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination was carried out. No significant abnormalities were detected.
