Racing Incident Report

UNIVERSAL GLORY was withdrawn on 5.4.02 on veterinary grounds (bled) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter HONEST STEED (M Cahill). When the gates opened, FLORAL DANCER bounded in the air and just after the start bumped the hindquarters of DEEP PURPLE. Approaching the 1200 Metres, FLORAL DANCER shifted out slightly away from HONEST STEED, bumped the hindquarters of PROFIT TREASURE which became unbalanced, shifted out abruptly across the heels of CASH FLOW, got its head up, shifted further onto the heels of MEDIC HERO, became badly unbalanced and lost a lot of ground. In view of the circumstances, no action was taken. Near the 1000 Metres, ALWAYS ZIETEN got its head up when being steadied to race behind FORTUNE TYCOON which improved wide to go to the lead. When ALWAYS ZIETEN steadied, MAJESTIC WARRIOR, which was following, shifted out abruptly from behind it. As a consequence of this, considerable interference occurred. The main sufferers were DEEP PURPLE, CASH FLOW, FLORAL DANCER, MEDIC HERO and MR HAPPY, all of which were rather seriously hampered. To a lesser extent, PROFIT TREASURE was inconvenienced. Again because of the circumstances, no action was taken. About the 500 Metres, FLORAL DANCER lost its position when awkwardly placed just inside the heels of DEEP PURPLE. About the 400 Metres, EARL GREY, which was initially improving wide, was steadied and shifted across behind runners to try and improve on the inside. About the 200 Metres, HONEST STEED was steadied when momentarily held up behind ALWAYS ZIETEN. After the 100 Metres, MR HAPPY and CASH FLOW came together. PROFIT TREASURE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
