Racing Incident Report
The Senior Veterinary Surgeon reported that whilst DR MORE was parading prior to the race, it appeared stiff in its action. After arriving at the barrier, DR MORE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. Shortly after the start, KEEN WINNER was steadied when crowded for room between WINNING BOY which was taken in by MASTER FAY which itself shifted in abruptly on jumping and DASHING WINNER which after beginning awkwardly and getting its head up shifted out. In the early and middle stages, due mainly to the pace, a number of runners pulled hard and proved difficult to settle, the worse affected being DR MORE, DASHING WINNER and CHEERS WINNER. At the 800 Metres, BRILLIANT WAY was steadied to avoid the heels of DR MORE which itself when racing keenly was steadied to avoid the heels of MASTER FAY. For some distance after straightening, DR MORE was held up behind MASTER FAY and to the inside of MY HONOUR. After the 300 Metres, DR MORE was shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running between those horses, however, as it did so, MASTER FAY also shifted out. DR MORE was then steadied and shifted back to the inside of MASTER FAY into clear running. After the 100 Metres, S Dye dropped his off side rein. For some distance at about the 300 Metres, KEEN WINNER had some difficulty obtaining clear running. At about the 200 Metres, C Williams (MY HONOUR) dropped his whip. Throughout the race, CHEERS WINNER raced wide and was unable to obtain cover. DR MORE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
