Racing Incident Report
Before the race, GOOD BROTHER shifted a plate. This was refitted by the Head Farrier. The horse was trotted up and the Veterinary Surgeon said in his opinion it was suitable to race. On jumping, CHOICE AND CHANCE shifted out abruptly as FORECAST TO WIN shifted in, as a consequence, the two horses came together. HURRY UP was slowly away. ALL PERFECT missed the start slightly and was then checked by SING A SONG which on leaving the gates knuckled and shifted in abruptly. For some distance after this, ALL PERFECT raced ungenerously and threw its head about. SUPREME STAR left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted in, then in the early stages had a tendency to race with its head up and over the latter stages hung in. Running towards the 800 Metres, ON THE TEE was steadied when momentarily crowded by SING A SONG which got its head on the side and hung in away from CULLINAN. When ON THE TEE was steadied at about the 800 Metres, GOOD BROTHER, which was following and pulling, got its head up and became unbalanced. D Dunn (SALUT BEAUTE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that at about the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift across the running of FLYING GENERAL when not clear. As a consequence of this, FLYING GENERAL was checked. The crowding to FLYING GENERAL was accentuated as SALUT BEAUTE was being steadied as it went to the front. After considering all the circumstances of this case, it was decided the appropriate penalty was for D Dunn to be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 31 March 2002 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting next Wednesday 20 March 2002 at Sha Tin. After the 800 Metres, CHOICE AND CHANCE shifted out away from ON THE TEE. As a consequence of this, some inconvenience was caused to SUPREME STAR and SPEED FIRE, both of which were obliged to race wider. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, GOOD BROTHER raced ungenerously and hung out.
