Racing Incident Report

While parading, LUCKY SUPERSTAR kicked the rail and shifted its near side hind plate. This was refitted. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. BORN DRAGON missed the start slightly. Just after the start, BORN DRAGON struck the heels of SPLENDID PATROL which had left the gates awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. As a consequence of this, BORN DRAGON got further back than anticipated. CORAJOSO jumped awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and was unbalanced when close to the heels of GOLCONDA. When the gates opened, V-CAN bounded in the air. In the early and middle stages, SPLENDID PATROL proved almost impossible to settle and after the 800 Metres was shifted to the outside into clear running. Near the 800 Metres, SPRING FOUNTAIN, which was pulling very hard as it often does, was checked severely when racing close to the heels of SOMLUCK (Apprentice S K Sit) which shifted in when only just clear. The trouble to SPRING FOUNTAIN was made worse by SPLENDID PATROL, which was being ridden away from the lead, pulling and shifting out. No direct action was taken, but Apprentice S K Sit was told to exercise care at all times. Apprentice S K Sit said the horse, which was resuming from a spell today, left the gates cleanly, raced freely in the early stages, because of this took up a more forward position than it normally would.
