Racing Incident Report

RIGHT ON left the gates awkwardly, as a consequence of this Apprentice S K Sit was momentarily unbalanced in the saddle. Then in the early stages, RIGHT ON was reluctant to stretch right out. About the 700 Metres, POWER OF SUCCESS was crowded for room on the outside of FORTUNE REACHING when taken in by BLESSINGS' PARTNER which was also crowded and taken in by VIGOROSO which was shifted ground to avoid HOLY QUEST (W C Marwing) which was shifting to a forward position when not clear. After considering all the circumstances, it was decided no action would be taken, however, W C Marwing was severely reprimanded and told he will be expected to exercise far more care when shifting ground. About the 200 Metres, RIGHT ON was steadied and shifted in when tightened for room between HENNESSY STAR and BLESSINGS' PARTNER which was taken out by FORTUNE REACHING. About right on the winning post, BLESSINGS' PARTNER was crowded for room between POWER OF SUCCESS and FORTUNE REACHING which continued to shift out. After the race, ZENON LIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was showing signs of having a heart irregularity. This is the first occasion which the horse had displayed an irregular heart rhythm, but before the horse can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Subsequent to Race 3, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that ZENON LIGHT was bleeding from the near nostril in the sampling stalls. An endoscopic examination was carried out which revealed blood in the trachea. The horse was therefore deemed to be an official bleeder.
