Racing Incident Report

FORTUNE RIVER was withdrawn on 25.1.02 on veterinary grounds (sore near fore suspensory ligament) and replaced by first Standby Declared Starter HAPPY HORSE. Subsequently HAPPY HORSE was also withdrawn on 25.1.02 on veterinary grounds (lame off fore leg) and replaced by second Standby Declared Starter ABSOLUTE (Apprentice K C Tsang). Before racing again, FORTUNE RIVER and HAPPY HORSE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. SMILEY WIN missed the start. When the gates opened, FORTUNE REACHING bounded in the air. ZENON LIGHT came out awkwardly. About the 800 Metres, HONG KONG STAR became unbalanced when awkward just inside the heels of ABSOLUTE. WINWIN COMBINATION, which was following HONG KONG STAR, was hampered as a consequence. Near the 500 Metres, BOXING DAY was checked when disappointed for running between GOLDEN BELL and PRINCESS BEAUTY which was giving ground. In the Straight, ABSOLUTE hung in. Approaching the winning post, REALLY LUCKY was steadied when momentarily crowded by BOXING DAY which shifted away from ABSOLUTE. REALLY LUCKY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
