Racing Incident Report
SPARKY left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about. On leaving the gates, GONLARGO shifted out and made contact with ALL THRILLS TOO which was carried onto the hindquarters of WINNING COUNTER which shifted in slightly. This resulted in ALL THRILLS TOO being crowded for room. The Stewards overruled the protest/objection lodged by S Dye, the rider of ALL THRILLS TOO, which finished 4th, against WINNING COUNTER (E Saint-Martin) being declared 2nd. S Dye had alleged interference to his mount just after the start. The Stewards considered that ALL THRILLS TOO was crowded for room at the start. However, they did not believe that all the crowding had been caused by WINNING COUNTER. Also taking into account the margins between the two horses at the finish and where the incident occurred, they were not of the opinion that ALL THRILLS TOO would have finished in front of WINNING COUNTER had the crowding which did take place not occurred. Accordingly the Judge's placings as semaphored were confirmed. Near the 500 Metres, SCORE (D Dunn) shifted out from behind ALL THRILLS TOO to obtain uninterrupted running and go forward. As a consequence of SCORE shifting out, inconvenience was caused to BEST OF THE BEST and it was carried from the running to which it was entitled. D Dunn was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. In the Straight, ASIA RISING changed course to find running. ALL THRILLS TOO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that SCORE had sustained a laceration to the inside of its off front cannon.
