Racing Incident Report

At declaration time, S Dye was notified as the rider of both SPLENDID STAR, trained by Mr D A Hayes, and MAGICAL WARRIOR, trained by Mr J Size. It was established that D Dunn had been engaged for the ride on MAGICAL WARRIOR and the stable had inadvertently notified S Dye. For an incorrect declaration of the rider, Trainer J Size was fined $2,000. Before being presented in the Parade Ring, MAGICAL WARRIOR had its off side hind plate refitted. The horse was examined at the Start and passed suitable to race. CONVERGENCE left the gates very awkwardly. On jumping, LUCKY STALLION knuckled, shifted out abruptly and bumped DASHING WINNER. For some distance running to the first turn, LUCKY STALLION raced tight between the hindquarters of MASCOT TREASURE and PRECISION. Approaching the 800 Metres, MAGICAL WARRIOR momentarily lost its position just inside CHUTZPAH which was racing tight inside LUCKY STALLION which in turn was tight inside PRECISION. About the 800 Metres, LUCKY STALLION was bumped by PRECISION which was racing tight on its outside. Near the 500 Metres, DASHING WINNER was steadied when close to the heels of LUCKY STALLION and tight inside LOYAL DEVOTION. Just after straightening, LUCKY STALLION was steadied when crowded between PRECISION and CHUTZPAH, both of which shifted a little ground. Near the 200 Metres, THE KING OF CLOYNE was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between SPLENDID STAR and PERFECT FUN. In the run to the winning post, FRAME'S PEOPLE did not obtain clear running.
