Racing Incident Report
The Veterinary Surgeon advised that LUCKY KING is a horse which at times suffers from a skin condition. When examined this morning, he noted LUCKY KING had a skin allergy on both sides of its neck. He reported the trainer was keen for the horse to run and the Veterinary Surgeon said in his opinion a condition such as this is highly unlikely to affect the performance of LUCKY KING, therefore in his opinion the horse at this stage is suitable to race. However, he advised before being presented in the Parade Ring that LUCKY KING would be re-examined. FELICITY jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of SUPER TEAM. About the 600 Metres, NEW FACE was unbalanced when awkwardly placed between PARADIS and GOOD TIME FOR ALL which shifted in slightly. After the 200 Metres, LOVE ON EARTH was steadied when crowded for room between SUPER TEAM and LUCKY KING which was endeavouring to shift to the outside of GOOD TIME FOR ALL which was also shifting out. Because of the circumstances, no action was taken. J Egan (YACHT MASTER) was told by the trainer to ensure the horse, which was having its first race start today, closed the race off. He said Mr Ho was emphatic that the horse not be ridden amongst the leaders and then dropped out over the concluding stages. J Egan went on to say on the way to the Start YACHT MASTER proved hard for him to hold, then the horse probably got the best of the jump and because he did not want to be with the front runners, he immediately took hold of it and settled the horse to a rearward position. He said however because of the speed it was on when the race got going, he got further back than planned and running towards the first turn realized he should have gone into a position between SUPER TEAM and COSMO ONE, but he was concerned that SUPER TEAM was shifting in slightly and he was anxious not to be checked as the horse was racing greenly. Because of this, with 600 Metres to go, he was last but travelling well. He said in the Straight he was able to find clear running, rode the horse out hard to the line and it closed off strongly. He acknowledged in hindsight it probably would have been better for him to get going sooner than he did and put the horse into the position between COSMO ONE and SUPER TEAM near the 600 Metres. J Egan was told his riding particularly in the early stages in a race such as this had come under notice and he must endeavour to ride at all times in such a way that does not leave him open to question. It was thought appropriate the explanations put forward be recorded. TOP WINNER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
