Racing Incident Report
FAIRY TALE jumped very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped SUPER BOLD RACER. ACTIVE ACCOUNT was slowly away, then throughout the event raced greenly and about the 800 Metres became unbalanced when being checked off the heels of CYBER WISDOM which shifted out slightly away from TRIPLE DRAGON. Near the 1000 Metres, FAIRY TALE was steadied when crowded for room between SUPER BOLD RACER and TRIPLE DRAGON. In the middle stages, CYBER WISDOM got its head on the side and hung in onto the heels of TRIPLE DRAGON. Just after this, CYBER WISDOM shifted out, SPEED WIN which was following was hampered as a consequence. About 100 Metres out, JAMIESON was steadied when crowded for room between CYBER WISDOM and TRIPLE DRAGON which shifted out away from SUPER BOLD RACER. The Stewards overruled a protest/objection lodged by J Egan, the rider of HUGE HOPE, 2nd placegetter, against CALIFORNIA KID (D Dunn) being declared the winner. J Egan had alleged interference to his mount in the latter part of the Back Straight and rounding the Home Turn. The Stewards considered whilst CALIFORNIA KID did race tight outside HUGE HOPE in the middle stages and rounding the Home Turn and on several occasions HUGE HOPE became unbalanced, they did not consider, bearing in mind the 1¾ lengths margin between the two horses at the finish, that HUGE HOPE would have in any circumstances finished in front of CALIFORNIA KID had this crowding which did take place not occurred. Accordingly the Judge's placings as semaphored were confirmed. Whilst the Stewards considered the riding of A Suborics (FAIRY TALE), 4th placegetter, in the run to the line did not affect the horse's finishing position and accordingly a breach of Rule 100(2) did not occur, they did however severely reprimand A Suborics and told him he must ride all mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards whenever it is possible. When asked about the disappointing performance of CYBER WISDOM, E Legrix said he rode the horse in a recent trial and this he thought was quite satisfactory. He did say in this trial the horse had used a ring bit as in the past it was inclined to hang. He said there was no inclination from the horse to hang during this trial nor today when using a ring bit. He went on to say he rode the horse in some easy work last Friday and again he thought this was nice work. He said the intention was to try and ride the horse somewhere just behind the leaders if possible. He said CYBER WISDOM left the gates satisfactorily, travelled a little further back then planned because of the manner in which the race was being run. He said running towards the 600 Metres, he shifted out to go forward around TRIPLE DRAGON, but even at this stage he was concerned with the way in which the horse was travelling and then in the Straight CYBER WISDOM was very disappointing. He said after the race it was considered that maybe CYBER WISDOM races better on the inside of other runners. CYBER WISDOM was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was reported that SPEED WIN was bleeding from both nostrils.
