Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the barrier, it was noted that LIGHTNING BOLT was bleeding from the mouth. The Veterinary Surgeon said this was due to quite a small laceration to the tongue and in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. It was reported after the race that LIGHTNING BOLT was bleeding from the mouth. DASHING WINNER left the gates awkwardly with its head up, just after the start was steadied to avoid the heels of EARL GREY which was taken out slightly by SPRING FOUNTAIN. MALAYAN GEM jumped badly, threw its head about, as a consequence lost considerable ground. Near the 800 Metres, MALAYAN GEM was severely checked when crowded by DASHING WINNER which was racing tight inside SPRING FOUNTAIN which had a tendency to pull, got its head on the side and hung in away from EARL GREY. The check to MALAYAN GEM was one of considerable significance, but because of all the circumstances the Stewards were not able to attribute responsibility to any rider and accordingly no action was taken. About the 700 Metres, TAMAR became unbalanced and lost its position when racing between LION ROCK and TRAVELLER STAR and close to the heels of COME SEE YOU. Near the 600 Metres, SPRING FOUNTAIN shifted out from behind LION ROCK. As a consequence of this, some inconvenience was caused to EARL GREY and that horse was obliged to race considerably wider rounding the Home Turn. About the 500 Metres, PAOBRIDGE was disappointed for running between LION ROCK and THUNDER STORM which was racing tight inside EARL GREY. Near the 300 Metres, FERRULE and MIGHTY AND GOLD bumped. In the Straight, RUN AND WIN hung out badly, because of this the horse proved difficult to ride out. As a consequence of it hanging out, some inconvenience was caused to COME SEE YOU about 100 Metres out. PAOBRIDGE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
