Racing Incident Report
PERFECT SHADOW was slowly away, then near the winning post the first time brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. On jumping, ZINEDINE threw its head about. Near the 1000 Metres, EMPIRE COURT lost ground when reluctant to hold its position inside DANDY BUNNY which itself was racing tight inside NON SEQUITUR. About the 600 Metres, ELECTRONIC SEEKER shifted to the outside of DANDY BUNNY, in doing so made contact with NON SEQUITUR. About the 200 Metres, PERFECT SHADOW was disappointed for running between NON SEQUITUR and OCEAN ACROSS which was weakening and shifting ground. In the Straight, ZINEDINE hung in. The Stewards allowed E Legrix (OCEAN ACROSS) an opportunity of explaining the horse's poor run. E Legrix said he had been riding the horse in some of its work. Two gallops previously the horse had worked probably harder than intended and pulled up that day making some noises. He said at its next gallop the horse had worked rather gently. Today with blinkers on for the first time he was instructed to make sure he travelled somewhere in a forward position. He said OCEAN ACROSS was towards the front in the run, but before straightening he knew the horse was not going to figure in the finish and in the Straight when weakening it was clearly unbalanced and he eased it down. OCEAN ACROSS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported OCEAN ACROSS was bleeding from both nostrils.
