Racing Incident Report
On the way to the Start, Apprentice S K Sit was dislodged from UNITY. On arriving at the gates, UNITY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse in his opinion was suitable to race. STINGER was slowly away. On jumping, REFRESHINGLY was bumped by SAGACIOUS which shifted out. EN RAPPORT was a little slow to jump and then was bumped by UNITY which shifted out. In the early stages, PROFIT DAY hung out. About the 1200 Metres, UNITY was awkward inside the heels of CHINESESPORT GLORY which itself was close to the heels of SAGACIOUS. In the middle stages, SAGACIOUS proved difficult to settle. At the 700 Metres, ARROGANCE got its head up when awkwardly placed just inside the heels of SINCERE AND FAITH. On straightening, ARROGANCE was steadied and shifted in after being disappointed for running between SINCERE AND FAITH and PROFIT DAY. In the Straight, when put under pressure UNITY hung out. SAGACIOUS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that he noted a significant amount of blood in the windpipe of SAGACIOUS. This was detected after an endoscopic examination was performed.
