Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading, ARROGANCE pulled its off side front plate. The horse was re-shod before being proceeding to the Start. On arriving at the barrier, the horse was checked by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. When the gates opened, CULLINAN bounded in the air, then knuckled. UTMOST EASY was slowly away. Then near the 600 Metres, UTMOST EASY shifted out. As a consequence of this, COSMO ONE was carried onto GOLDCHIN BEST which was inconvenienced and obliged to race wide. S Dye (TOM'S FIRST) said his instructions today were to ride his horse back. However, he was told by the trainer if TOM'S FIRST left the gates well as was hoped today wearing blinkers, he could take up a position somewhere towards the front, but at no stage was the intention to lead. S Dye said TOM'S FIRST left the gates cleanly and quickly and as the race was settling down he took a decision to go forward and lead rather than be caught wide. Subsequent to the race, A Marcus (CULLINAN) said the horse did not stretch out as he thought it should. On being unsaddled, CULLINAN was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who had the horse trotted up. He said in his opinion he was unable to detect any abnormalities. After the race, it was noted that GOLDEN CHOICE was making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination was carried out and no abnormalities were detected.
