Racing Incident Report

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that at the racing check yesterday when he examined FORTUNE MAKER it was showing signs of soreness in the near side front leg. He said the horse has a history of problems with this leg, but when trotted up the horse was at that time in his opinion suitable to race. FORTUNE MAKER was again examined at the track this morning and the Veterinary Surgeon said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. After being boxed, ISLAND WEST TREBLE became fractious, reared and dislodged its rider. ISLAND WEST TREBLE was released from the gates, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and acting on his advice the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before racing again, ISLAND WEST TREBLE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and will be required to undergo an official veterinary examination. ONE STEP AHEAD left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about. COMME D'HABITUDE was slowly away. About the 300 Metres, MY HONOUR was steadied when crowded for room inside SPARKY which itself was racing tight inside MERRY MERRY which was inclined to shift in away from CONJURING. In view of all the circumstances, no action was taken. CONJURING was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
