Racing Incident Report
MR PRESIDENT jumped very awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped WINNING DELIGHTS. On jumping, ROYAL STAR shifted in abruptly and made contact with VICTORY COUNTER. COSMO ONE was slowly away. From a difficult gate, CALIFORNIA KID was obliged to race wide throughout and was not able to find cover at any stage. About the 800 Metres, SPEED WIN got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BOLD VISION and tight inside the hindquarters of COSMO ONE. Also about the 800 Metres, CHEEKY was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of GREEN DIAMOND (D Whyte) which shifted in when not quite clear. After being shifted out, CHEEKY had a tendency to hang out. D Whyte was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. For some distance near the 200 Metres, WINNING DELIGHTS was held up behind CALIFORNIA KID. About 100 Metres out, to obtain clear running, WINNING DELIGHTS was shifted to the inside of CALIFORNIA KID. CALIFORNIA KID was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said he noted CALIFORNIA KID had sustained a laceration to its near side hind heel.
