Racing Incident Report

RECOGNITION was slowly away. ZABETTE left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about. A Marcus (MULTIZEN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that near the 1500 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of RECOGNITION. Because of this RECOGNITION lost its running and was checked. TREMENDOUS WAY which was following was checked off the heels of RECOGNITION. The Stewards believed in all the circumstances of this case the appropriate penalty was for A Marcus to be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 14 October 2001 on which day he may resume race racing (5 Hong Kong race days). The suspension is to take immediate effect. About the 1500 Metres, CENTURY STAR was steadied to avoid the heels of BLESSINGS' PARTNER which shifted in when not quite clear. Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE GLORY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MULTIZEN and tight inside RECOGNITION. For a short distance near the 200 Metres, TREMENDOUS WAY was held up behind RECOGNITION and inside ZABETTE. To obtain running and go forward, TREMENDOUS WAY was steadied and shifted to the outside of ZABETTE. Just after the 200 Metres, BLESSINGS' PARTNER was awkward on the heels of SEA PEARL which was weakening. In the run to the winning post, CENTURY STAR had a tendency to shift out. As a consequence of this, H K Yim put the whip away and rode to the post hands and heels. HOLY WINE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
