Racing Incident Report

DASHING WINNER jumped very awkwardly with its head up, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HAPPY HORSE, then in the middle stages hung out badly. When the gates opened, CLASSIC CHOICE bounded in the air. On jumping, WINNING FOCUS knuckled. SUPER COMBINATION was slowly away. In the middle stages, TELECOM BABE commenced to hang out, then hung out badly and as a consequence the brow band of the bridle almost came off the horse and placed D Whyte at a considerable disadvantage. About the 300 Metres, MASCOT was disappointed for running between HAPPY HORSE and NO COMPETITOR which shifted out slightly. Apprentice S K Sit (MASCOT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that approaching the 200 Metres he shifted his mount in after being disappointed for running between HAPPY HORSE and NO COMPETITOR when not clear of GOLDEN BELL. As a consequence of this, GOLDEN BELL lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled and was checked. After the Stewards had taken full account of all the evidence and the submissions put by Apprentice S K Sit and his allocated Trainer, Mr K W Lui, they decided the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice S K Sit to be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 13 May 2001 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Wednesday. Over about the last 100 Metres, HAPPY HORSE was awkwardly placed behind BANK ON IT which was giving ground and just inside the heels of GOLDEN PROMISE. Near the winning post, CLASSIC CHOICE was steadied when crowded for room between GOLDEN GOBLET and DASHING WINNER which was racing ungenerously and shifted in. R Fradd (GOLDEN GOBLET) stated in his opinion the horse did not handle today's track condition. GOLDEN GOBLET was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
