Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading, LOVE ON EARTH kicked out and made contact with a rail. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the Start, was trotted up, the condition of the horse was discussed with the rider and after that the Veterinary Surgeon decided LOVE ON EARTH was suitable to race. WOODSIDE PARK was slowly away. On jumping, GLORIOUS WINNER threw its head up. About the 800 Metres, SUNNY DAY, which had a tendency to be laying in away from SUPER CONNECTIONS, was checked when crowded between NEW CONCEPT and SUPER CONNECTIONS which after being initially taken in by POT BLACK continued to shift in on its own accord. In view of all the circumstances, it was decided that it was inappropriate to take any action. In the middle stages, HANDSOME FORTUNE had a tendency to over-race and was difficult to settle. About the 500 Metres, POWER OF SUCCESS was steadied when crowded for room between NEW CONCEPT and HEADING TO WIN which was taken out by WINWIN COMBINATION which was making the turn awkwardly. After this incident, POWER OF SUCCESS was shifted in initially when clear of SPLENDID BO BO, but approaching the 400 Metres SPLENDID BO BO made ground quickly to be just inside the heels of POWER OF SUCCESS and as POWER OF SUCCESS (S Dye) continued to shift, SPLENDID BO BO was checked. After considering all the circumstances of this matter, the Stewards were of the view that this was clearly a borderline case, but they decided that S Dye was entitled to be given the benefit of the doubt and as a consequence no direct action was taken, but S Dye was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. About the 400 Metres, HEADING TO WIN, which had been racing awkwardly for some distance, was checked when crowded between NEW CONCEPT and WINWIN COMBINATION which shifted out slightly from behind WAVY WAVE. About 100 Metres out, LOVE ON EARTH and GLORIOUS WINNER came together when GLORIOUS WINNER was taken out slightly by HEADING TO WIN. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said he noted NEW CONCEPT had sustained a laceration to the front of its near side coronet band.
