Racing Incident Report

On arriving at the barriers, R Fradd sought a veterinary examination of HOUSEMASTER as he was concerned with the action of the horse. HOUSEMASTER was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who discussed the situation with R Fradd and it was then decided HOUSEMASTER was suitable to race. KENWOOD MELODY jumped awkwardly with its head up, shifted ground and bumped MAN OF HONOUR. HOUSEMASTER left the gates awkwardly with its head up, then was obliged to travel wide throughout and was not able to find any cover. Near the 800 Metres, KEEN WINNER was momentarily crowded for room between KENWOOD MELODY and MONARDS. Rounding the turn, GONLARGO was awkwardly placed behind ORIENTAL EXPRESS and inside the hindquarters of HOUSEMASTER. To obtain running, GONLARGO was steadied and shifted to the inside of ORIENTAL EXPRESS, then after the 200 Metres was steadied across the heels of MONARDS to continue going forward. D Whyte (NEW TRUMPS) said after the 200 Metres the horse faltered and in his opinion was lame in its near side front leg after the race. Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon examined NEW TRUMPS. He said the horse was lame in its near side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, NEW TRUMPS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. W Woods (KENWOOD MELODY) said after properly testing the horse out, deciding it was well beaten and as he was concerned with the action of KENWOOD MELODY, he did not ride it out hard to the line as he normally would.
