Racing Incident Report
ROUND THE WORLD jumped awkwardly and bounded in the air. ADMIRAL also jumped awkwardly and bumped the inside of its gate. On jumping, LOMBARD threw its head about and shifted out. Approaching the 1000 Metres, NICE MEMORIES and ADMIRAL brushed as NICE MEMORIES was taken in slightly by DANRIVA. For some distance near the 800 Metres, NIFTY DANCER was awkwardly placed behind ROUND THE WORLD and inside LOMBARD. Rounding the turn, GOD'S WILL hung out badly, this caused some inconvenience to CALIFORNIA KID. Then in the Straight, GOD'S WILL dropped right out. After the race, GOD'S WILL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. The performance of the horse was considered unacceptable. Before it can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. About the 500 Metres, ROUND THE WORLD was checked and changed course to avoid GOD'S WILL which was stopping. Some inconvenience was also caused to NIFTY DANCER which was following. From the outside gate, CHUK WAY was obliged to travel wide throughout and for most of the race without any cover. ROUND THE WORLD was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon examined ROUND THE WORLD. He said the horse had sustained lacerations to its near front coronet band and to its near hind pastern. He said it had also sustained lacerations to its off side hind pastern and to its fetlock joint. Also following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon examined LOMBARD. He said the horse was coughing, an endoscopy was performed and this revealed the horse had a lot of blood in its throat and windpipe. However, the Veterinary Surgeon did not deem LOMBARD to have suffered a bleeding attack.
