Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, W Woods was dislodged from HYDROGEN POWER. EMPEROR left the gates awkwardly with its head up. LANDLORD jumped awkwardly and threw its head about. On jumping, CALIFORNIA KID and GLORIOUS WINNER came together. Also on jumping, JUST WIN and TRIUMPHANT STAR came together. After bumping with JUST WIN, TRIUMPHANT STAR shifted out abruptly and made contact with the hindquarters of QUICK COMMANDER. D Whyte (CALIFORNIA KID) explained over about the last 100 Metres the horse was making quite significant noises with its breathing and was not stretching out as it should. Subsequent to the race, Mr D A Hayes, Trainer of CALIFORNIA KID, said on pulling up he was of the view the horse had choked down and it is his intention to apply to fit a tongue tie to CALIFORNIA KID before the horse races again. CALIFORNIA KID was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
