Racing Incident Report
On the way to the Parade Ring, PROFIT DAY threw its head up and made contact with the false ceiling. Mr T K Ng, Trainer of the horse, observed the incident, discussed the matter with a Veterinary Surgeon and at that stage no abnormalities could be detected. PROFIT DAY was again examined by a Veterinary Surgeon at the Start who discussed the horse's condition with A Marcus and it was then decided that PROFIT DAY was suitable to race. CLEVER CITATION jumped awkwardly. On jumping, GOLDEN BELL and LEGEND OF WEI HAI came together. FIELD'S WINNER was slowly away, just after the start was bumped by UNIVERSAL PEGASUS and carried out onto the heels of BACK SEAT DRIVER. Then just after the start, UNIVERSAL PEGASUS shifted out abruptly and was checked off the heels of BACK SEAT DRIVER. Rounding the turn, PROFIT DAY, which was having its first race start, hung out badly. Mr T K Ng, Trainer of PROFIT DAY, was told should the horse perform similarly again, action will be taken against it. J Egan (GOLDEN BELL) said after bumping with LEGEND OF WEI HAI at the start, in the early stages the horse commenced to hang in badly and for about the first 200 Metres he had considerable difficulty keeping it away from the inside running rail. He said in an endeavour to straighten GOLDEN BELL up, he pulled the whip in a forward fashion, hit the horse down the shoulder which appeared to have the desired effect. After this, GOLDEN BELL raced truly and finished the race off quite strongly. He was unable to put forward any explanation for the hanging in the early stages but believed it may have had something to do with the incident on jumping. LEGEND OF WEI HAI was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
