Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, TEAM TONIC reared, came out awkwardly. EVERWELL FOREVER left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about. FLIGHT OF FANCY jumped with its head in the air, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GOOD FIT. On jumping, JADE RUYI and WONDERFUL LIFE came together. Then for a short distance just after the start, JADE RUYI could not be settled and bounded in the air. Running to the first turn, both FLIGHT OF FANCY and GOOD FIT proved difficult to settle and raced with their heads up. Turning out of the Straight the first time, TEAM TONIC, which had been placed in an awkward position, was checked off the heels of TELECOM TWIN. Also turning out of the Straight the first time, EVERWELL FOREVER got its head up and shifted out abruptly. As a consequence of this, FLIGHT OF FANCY was inconvenienced, shifted out and this caused GOOD FIT to be checked. ELEGANCE, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Near the 1400 Metres, WONDERFUL LIFE was steadied when crowded by SPLENDID BO BO. Just after the 400 Metres, TELECOM TWIN became unbalanced when being shifted out across the heels of SPLENDID BO BO. Near the 200 Metres, TELECOM TWIN was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between SPLENDID BO BO and JUMBO LUCK. Also near the 200 Metres, FLIGHT OF FANCY hung in. As a consequence of this, some crowding was caused to SUPER SPLENDID and EVERWELL FOREVER. When asked about the performance of IRON TYCOON, S Dye said the horse travelled satisfactorily in the run in the rearward position, after the 600 Metres he was behind GOOD FIT, the ultimate winner of the race, but shortly after this when he endeavoured to go forward on IRON TYCOON, the horse did not respond as anticipated and generally was very disappointing over the concluding stages. He did point out the horse when put under pressure did not feel comfortable in its action. In all the circumstances, the Stewards were of the view the performance of IRON TYCOON was unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and it will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. IRON TYCOON and FLIGHT OF FANCY were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
