Racing Incident Report

MY FAVOURITE left the gates very awkwardly. CAPITAL STAR jumped awkwardly with its head up, was then severely checked when crowded by JUST WIN which left the gates awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, then in the Straight CAPITAL STAR shifted ground when struck with the whip. After the 600 Metres, GOOD SPIRIT was steadied when awkwardly placed behind GOLD RUSH. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, GLORIOUS WINNER hung out badly. Rounding the Home Turn, JUST WIN, which was racing in blinkers for the first time, hung out badly. Mr T W Leung, Trainer of JUST WIN, was told if the horse performs similarly again, action will be taken against it. When JUST WIN hung out rounding the Home Turn, inconvenience was caused to FOREVER VICTORY and that horse was obliged to race wider. In the early part of the Straight, GOOD SPIRIT and JUST WIN bumped. When asked about the disappointing performance of GOLD RUSH, S Dye said he had worked the horse last Saturday on the track. This work was in his opinion quite good and the horse was expected to run well tonight. He said GOLD RUSH travelled satisfactorily in the very early stages of the race, about the 600 Metres he steadied to allow JUST WIN to race past him, but as that horse was hanging, he was always confident of being able to improve on its inside should GOLD RUSH travel well enough to do so. He said however shortly after this GOLD RUSH was well beaten and in the Straight did not respond to his riding and overall the run in his opinion was very disappointing. Before GOLD RUSH can race again, it will be subject to an official veterinary examination. GOLD RUSH was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
