Racing Incident Report

On jumping, OPTIC ELITE was severely checked and CENTURY STAR checked when tightened for room between CASH TREASURE and FAIRWAY FINDER which on leaving the gates shifted in abruptly. The occurrence was accidental. ELLEN'S WON was slowly away. Approaching the 1200 Metres, RIVER DANCE was steadied from behind WELL EXPRESS. About the 1200 Metres, EVER BOLD momentarily shifted in, this caused inconvenience to CENTURY STAR and CASH TREASURE. For some distance in the middle stages, FAIRWAY FINDER and OPTIC ELITE raced tight. About the 700 Metres, CASH TREASURE, which was not travelling well, hung in abruptly away from FAIRWAY FINDER, as a consequence RED DEVIL, which was following, was checked and got its head up. Near the winning post, EVER BOLD (Apprentice K C Tsang) shifted out, this caused inconvenience to CENTURY STAR and OPTIC ELITE. Apprentice K C Tsang was told he must exercise more care than this. S Dye (LONGMARK) was reminded he must ride all horses out to the winning post whenever possible, particularly when they are in contention. J Egan (RIVER DANCE) said he had been asked by the Trainer from a difficult gate to ride RIVER DANCE somewhere about the middle if possible. If RIVER DANCE left the gates satisfactorily, his intention was to shift abruptly behind other runners to a position on the rail, but as ELLEN'S WON missed the start, he was not able to do this and he was caught wide throughout and further back than he would have wished to be. After the race, it was noted that FAIRWAY FINDER had lost its near side front plate.
