Racing Incident Report

FIELD'S WINNER jumped very awkwardly with its head up and shifted out. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE was slowly away. FORTUNE ASSOCIATES left the gates badly, because of this E Legrix was momentarily unbalanced in the saddle. About the 600 Metres, GRAND PRIZE and HAIL WINNER bumped. Near the 500 Metres, GOOD FRIENDS and SUPER PERFORMANCE came together. For some distance just before straightening, GOOD FRIENDS was awkwardly placed behind BEAUTY FOUNTAIN which was giving ground. About right on the winning post, CLEVER CITATION and GRAND PRIZE came together. BEAUTY FOUNTAIN was obliged to race very wide throughout and did not obtain cover. HANDSOME MAN, from a difficult gate, also covered a lot of ground and travelled without any cover for most of the race. C Brown (FORTUNE GLORY) said that in the early part of the Straight he had trouble obtaining running when awkwardly placed behind GRAND PRIZE and tight inside BEAUTY FOUNTAIN which shifted in when continuing to give ground. He said when he did obtain clear running after the 200 Metres, the horse did not flatten out as expected, got its head up and the manner in which it finished off was very disappointing. The explanations were accepted, however, C Brown was reminded that he should ride all his mounts out right to the winning post at least hands and heels whenever possible. When asked about the performance of SUPER PERFORMANCE, K S Yu said he had been instructed by the Trainer from a good gate to either lead or travel somewhere about the 2nd position. He said SUPER PERFORMANCE jumped satisfactorily, then was not able to gather the speed to get to the front, in the early stages was obliged to travel wide although with cover, but he did say he had difficulty settling the horse, then over the concluding stages because of the hard run it had, it gave ground. SUPER PERFORMANCE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
