Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, TEMMOKU bounded in the air. On jumping, NATURAL WINNER and RAINBOW AND GOLD came together. Near the 400 Metres, TEMMOKU brushed the running rail. Just after straightening, TRIUMPHANT FEELING was steadied and shifted in in an endeavour to find running. Mr G Lane (SILENT PARTNER) explained he decided to run the horse in this race today in preference to Race 9 as the horse in a Class 1 event would be asked to carry less weight. He said he had asked B Marcus from a good gate to try and ride the horse about midfield if possible and then hope for a run in the closing stages. He said he was a little surprised that SILENT PARTNER took up a position in the race that he did, however, B Marcus explained to him that the horse left the gates cleanly, travelled kindly throughout and with not a lot of pace on he elected to ride it in a little more forward position than planned. The explanations submitted by Mr Lane were accepted. CHIU SHAN GLORY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that CHIU SHAN GLORY was lame in its near side front leg. Before being permitted to race again, CHIU SHAN GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and the horse will be subject to an official veterinary examination.
