Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, FLORAL CHEERS bounded in the air. TRIUMPHANT MASCOT jumped awkwardly, shifted ground, bumped the hindquarters of FLORAL CHEERS, then shifted out abruptly. On leaving the gates, TOPSPIN TOO, which was being steadied to shift across behind the field to a position at the rear near the rail, got its head up. Also on leaving the gates, SIR TIMAH shifted out and brushed SIMON'S DECISION. Just after the start, MR BASKETBALL was crowded for room between WINNING STAR and SMALL WONDER. From an outside gate, COUNTRY DRAGON was obliged to race wide without any cover. In the middle stages, SHAXI TREASURE, which had taken some time to settle, got its head up. About the 600 Metres, POWER HOUSE was checked when crowded by CHINA RED (E Legrix) which was racing tight on the inside of SIR TIMAH (Apprentice S K Sit). It was established that POWER HOUSE, which had been racing in an awkward position just inside the hindquarters of CHINA RED for some distance, lost its running about the 600 Metres when CHINA RED momentarily shifted in, at the same time SIR TIMAH did. Because of the circumstances, it was not possible for the Stewards to attribute responsibility to either rider, but both E Legrix and Apprentice S K Sit were told they must do all they can to avoid causing this kind of crowding. Near the 500 Metres, MR BASKETBALL shifted out and inconvenienced WINNING STAR which in turn shifted ground and obliged COUNTRY DRAGON which had been racing wide to race even wider. Approaching the Home Turn, SIMON'S DECISION was awkward on the heels of HOT POT. In the early part of the Straight, TOPSPIN TOO was steadied and shifted out abruptly when disappointed for running on the inside of HOT POT. POWER HOUSE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
