Racing Incident Report

SHINE OF KOWLOON was mounted on the track. The horse then planted and would not proceed to the Start. Apprentice C H Tse dismounted and SHINE OF KOWLOON was led riderless to the Start. When the gates opened, SHINE OF KOWLOON initially refused to jump away, then on jumping threw its head up, lost a lot of ground. The performance of the horse was deemed by the Stewards to be unacceptable. Before it can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and the Stewards will need to be satisfied that SHINE OF KOWLOON can be ridden in an appropriate fashion to the starting point. LUCKY AHEAD jumped awkwardly with its head up. On jumping, ME AND YOU and FLORAL REGENT came together. Approaching the winning post the first time, HAPPY TYCOON got its head on the side, shifted in away from WISHES, causing some inconvenience to ME AND YOU. Approaching the 1000 Metres, LUCKY AHEAD was inclined to lay out. As a consequence of this, FURIOSO was obliged to race wider and continued to race wide for the rest of the race. About the 1000 Metres, SKY HAWK became unbalanced and lost its position when awkward on the heels of ME AND YOU. About the 600 Metres, ME AND YOU was checked when crowded between FLORAL REGENT which shifted out slightly from behind SINCERELY YOURS and LUCKY AHEAD which momentarily shifted in. When ME AND YOU was checked, SKY HAWK, which was following, was hampered in consequence. In all the circumstances, it was decided not to take any action. On straightening, SUPER SPLENDID momentarily became unbalanced. About the 200 Metres, Apprentice M W Leung (SINCERELY YOURS) dropped his whip. Just after the 200 Metres, ME AND YOU was checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid LUCKY AHEAD. After the race, it was noted that HAPPY TYCOON had its tongue over the bit.
