Background:
Marco Botti hails from one of the most successful families in Italian racing. His father Alduino, to whom he served three years as assistant, was champion trainer of Italy for more than three decades. Marco rode as an amateur jockey in Italy, riding 48 winners, before continuing his training apprenticeship with Luca Cumani and Ed Dunlop at Newmarket, Saeed bin Suroor in Dubai and Bill Mott in the United States of America. He began training at Newmarket in 2006. Giavellotto’s victory in the Hong Kong Vase in 2024 was his most recent Group 1 success, and also one of his career highlights.
