11 LEADING CITY (CK298) D Oliver H Broke amongst first few, pressed to take up running, set terms to suit, kicked strongly at 350m and defied some smart rivals for a strong win.
9 PAGANINI'S SOUL (CL373) D Whyte XB Away well enough, slotted in to spot in midfield behind pace, good run 4Ls back in midfield, came 3 wide turning and chased gamely but unable to peg back winner despite gaining late.
1 CAPTAIN SWEET (CL354) B Prebble -- Reasonable break, assumed ideal position 1 out 1 back, had run of race to bend, loomed strongly at 250m but couldn’t find extra final 100m.
14 HAPPY PRESTIGE (CL081) G Cheyne B Began nicely, assumed role on leaders back, tracked well throughout, right there turning, no extra 200m but fought on ok.
13 CHATER MIKADO (M100) Z Purton -- Settled 3 wide just off midfield, had cover 6Ls or so back on bend, swung wider turning and made even progress to be nearest on line.
5 DRAGON FIGHTER (CL260) M L Yeung -- Began best, pushed on to sit outside leader, fair run to bend, niggled turning and hung on to 200m before fading.
7 PURE CHAMPION (M178) G Mosse TT Drifted back to rear soon after start, more than 10Ls back at tail, took inside runs, closed ok without threatening.
10 DIEGO (CK088) M Guyon B Went back as usual, 3 wide at rear 9Ls off top end, came even wider turning, lacked usual finish and just made modest progress.
2 FLEET COMMAND (CK077) J Lloyd SR Ended up midfield on rails, 5-6Ls back throughout, easy time on fence to bend, lacked an extra gear and just plugged away in straight.
12 MR BOND (M098) P Strydom -- Ended up midfield 3 wide with cover from an awkward draw, did it tough 5Ls of so away in mid section, made a little ground in straight but saddle shifted 150 M, no run on thereafter.
4 TURF EXPRESS (CL399) B Doyle TT Faded back from an outside draw, 8Ls away in 2 wide line, plenty to do turning, made no real progress.
6 FORTUNE RED PEPPER (CK199) O Doleuze -- Settled just behind midfield 6Ls back in 2 wide line, no excuses in run, lacked a dash in straight.
3 PERFECT GEAR (CL014) W C Marwing -- Posted 3 wide without cover 3Ls back, worked too hard to bend, was a spent force soon after and faded out.
8 IRON EAGLE (M156) W M Lai H1 Behind midfield on rails, 8Ls of so back to bend, unable to quicken at business end.
