He said when his mount jumped only fairly he elected to allow his mount to settle with cover behind midfield. He said making the Home Turn his mount , which was hanging in, made contact with a runner when he shifted to the outside of another runner. He said in the Home Straight his mount then continued to hang in and proved reluctant to improve between runners. He added his mount would derive benefit from its race experience and may also appreciate being stepped up in distance for its next race start. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 486.

7 K031  SHAMUS STORM  23/02/2025   447  SHAMUS STORM (K031) after being placed in the starting gates reared and got its front legs over the front gates momentarily. Was removed from the barriers and passed suitable to race. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a stalls test. Shortly after the start bumped with a runner and became unbalanced. After the event, rider stated that after jumping fairly and being hampered at the start he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to hold an on-pace position. He said as a result his mount did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 447.
8 K151  CELESTIAL PATCH  23/02/2025   449  CELESTIAL PATCH (K151) shortly after the start was steadied when racing in restricted room. In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1100M was steadied away from a runner. Near the 200M, when racing greenly, was steadied and shifted in to obtain clear running and blundered shortly after - Race 449.

10 J392  CARRYON SMILING  23/02/2025   447  CARRYON SMILING (J392) bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Between the 450M and the 350M was held up for clear running. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer stated that at the horse’s last start it had failed to run out a strong 1600M when it obtained a forward position from an inside barrier. He said following that run he sent the horse to his Conghua stable where it barrier trialed well on 14 February 2025. He said as a result he had expected the horse to run reasonably well. He said he also issued the same instructions to rider as he did to the horse’s rider on 29 December 2024 when the horse ran well when ridden in a conservative manner from the outside barrier and that, in his opinion, was the principal reason for the horse’s improvement - Race 447.

14 J385  SPORTIC WARRIOR  19/01/2025   360  SPORTIC WARRIOR (J385) jumped only fairly and then was crowded. After the event, rider reported that when he felt there may be something amiss with his mount in the Home Straight he eased it down from the race. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Finished tailed out and performance was considered unacceptable. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 360.
