2 K032  SKY JEWELLERY  05/02/2025   400  SKY JEWELLERY (K032) when questioned, rider stated that the instructions from a wide barrier were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He added he was given no specific instructions thereafter as to where to position his mount. He said as a result from a wide barrier he elected to settle his mount towards the back of the field in the early stages in accordance with the instructions. He said from the 600M his intention was to improve to the outside of the 11th placegetter to follow the 12th placegetter with the view to shifting to that runner's outside in the Home Straight, to ensure his mount was given clear and uninterrupted running. He said as he commenced to shift out from the 500M the 12th placegetter which had raced very wide and without cover commenced to give ground which resulted in his mount then being positioned to the inside of that runner making the Home turn and unable to shift to that runner’s outside. Rider added that on straightening he then attempted to obtain clear running between two runners, however, when a runner shifted out he was then obliged to shift to that runner’s inside where he was able to commence to ride his mount along. He said after the 250M his mount then became badly held up behind the 9th placegetter and as a result did not obtain clear running until after the 100M where it ran home strongly. When questioned if there was an opportunity to shift out near the 500M to follow the 12th placegetter before that runner commenced to give ground, rider stated that having regard to his mount being inexperienced and carrying top weight of 135 lbs, he was reluctant to do so. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued. After considering his explanation, the Stewards advised rider that, in their opinion, leaving the 500M he would have been advantaged by immediately shifting to the outside of the 11th placegetter to follow the 12th placegetter which would have prevented the horse from improving to the inside of the 12th placegetter and providing clear running in the Home Straight. However, the Stewards were not of the view that his riding after the 500M was unreasonable having regard to the explanation that he provided - Race 400.
3 J280  HAROLD WIN  05/02/2025   406  HAROLD WIN (J280) jumped only fairly. Leaving the 500M was hampered. Between the 300M and the 150M raced in restricted room - Race 406.
4 E346  JOLLY RULER  19/01/2025   360  JOLLY RULER (E346) approaching the 1000M was taken wider. After the event, rider stated that the instructions were to hold a forward position, however, his mount raced wide and without cover for the majority of the race and as a result gave ground in the Home Straight. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 360.
5 J370  CALIFORNIA BLITZ  19/01/2025   356  CALIFORNIA BLITZ (J370) after arriving at the barriers was kicked by another runner. Acting on vet advice that the horse was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 356.
