Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin.
PING HAI TREASURE shifted out on jumping and bumped ARCADA.
MAGNETISM was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Also from wide barriers, RACING LUCK and STAR MAJESTIC were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1300 Metres, LUCKY GIRL was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 500 Metres, LAST KINGDOM raced very close to the heels of ARCADA, resulting in ARCADA becoming badly unbalanced. LAST KINGDOM was consequently checked away from the heels of ARCADA. A veterinary inspection of ARCADA immediately following the race did not show any evidence of the horse having been galloped on. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LAST KINGDOM had sustained a small cut to the outside of the left front fetlock.
After the 300 Metres, AMAZING CHOCOLATE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY GIRL when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
H N Wong (THUNDER STOMP) stated that after CASA DE FORCA improved its position to be racing outside THUNDER STOMP approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, he was able to maintain his position after the 1300 Metres to race on the rail inside that horse. He said THUNDER STOMP then commenced to travel very keenly after the 1200 Metres and, despite his efforts, would not relax. He said this resulted in the race being run at a faster tempo than had been anticipated and because of this THUNDER STOMP was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of THUNDER STOMP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE, M Harley stated that he was able to obtain a good position in the early and middle stages when the race was run at a good tempo. He said having regard to the manner in which SUMSTREETSUMWHERE travelled, he expected the horse to quicken well after the 400 Metres, however, it came off the bridle rounding the Home Turn. He said he shifted SUMSTREETSUMWHERE to the inside of THUNDER STOMP after the 300 Metres, however, the horse was not travelling well enough to improve inside that horse prior to GOOD BEAUTY improving to be racing to the inside of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE. He said although SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was disappointed for this run, the horse was not travelling strongly at this time and after being shifted to the outside of THUNDER STOMP prior to the 200 Metres, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the latter stages. The Stewards will interview Trainer L Ho regarding the disappointing performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE prior to the Sha Tin racemeeting on 31 March 2019. A veterinary inspection of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GIRL and AMAZING CHOCOLATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ARCADA, RACING LUCK and LAST KINGDOM were sent for sampling.
<31/3/2019 27 March 2019 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 8 (537)>The Stewards today interviewed Trainer L Ho regarding the disappointing performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE. Mr Ho stated that SUMSTREETSUMWHERE had pleased him in its work since its last start success and he felt that the horse would again perform well, particularly given that the horse had again drawn an inside barrier. He said the stable assistant attending SUMSTREETSUMWHERE had reported that the horse made some minor breathing noises after the race and as SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was not able to be scoped due to being fractious, he was not in a position to say whether the horse may have had some internal issues which may have impacted on its performance. He added apart from this matter, the only other reason he could offer for the horse’s disappointing performance was the fact that it had risen significantly in the weights. As previously reported, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
