Racing Incident Report

HONG KONG FAT was withdrawn on 24.6.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LITTLE RAINFOREST (H Bowman). Before being allowed to race again, HONG KONG FAT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When entering the track, M Du Plessis was momentarily dislodged from LIFE OF BEAUTY without incident.
SECRETARY OF STATE began only fairly and shortly after the start shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of RISING POWER which became unbalanced.
CRUISE CONTROL was crowded for room at the start between MONEY WIN WINS and INFINITE COURAGE which got its head on the side and shifted out. INFINITE COURAGE was then ridden along, however, failed to muster speed. After this, CRUISE CONTROL was taken across behind runners.
Also from the outside barrier, DAILY DOUBLE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CARE FREE ELEGANCE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE BRAVO (Apprentice C Y Lui) which shifted in. Apprentice Lui was advised to exercise more care.
After the 1500 Metres, LIFE OF BEAUTY proved difficult to settle.
After the 1200 Metres, FIERY PATROL was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 700 Metres, CARE FREE ELEGANCE became unbalanced when crowded for room between FIERY PATROL and RISING POWER which shifted out.
Passing the 200 Metres, LITTLE RAINFOREST was bumped by DAILY DOUBLE which in turn was racing tight between LITTLE RAINFOREST and RISING POWER which shifted to the outside of FORTUNE BRAVO to improve.
Over the concluding stages, DAILY DOUBLE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MIZZEN GREY.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FIERY PATROL, J Moreira stated that although FIERY PATROL was left racing three wide and without cover after the 1200 Metres, his mount came under pressure at the 700 Metres to hold its position. He said at this time FIERY PATROL gave him only a limited response and was under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn to maintain its position. He added in the Straight FIERY PATROL gave ground and was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of FIERY PATROL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, Z Purton reported that SUISSE D’OR was under extreme pressure midway through the event and did not race competitively thereafter. A veterinary inspection of SUISSE D’OR immediately following the race revealed the horse to be mildly lame in the left front leg. The performance of SUISSE D’OR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUISSE D’OR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of CRUISE CONTROL and INFINITE COURAGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FIERY PATROL, MIZZEN GREY and FORTUNE BRAVO were sent for sampling.
