Racing Incident Report

KOKODA was withdrawn on 12.5.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MIGHTY K. Before being allowed to race again, KOKODA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ONGOING VOLATILITY began awkwardly and shortly after the start blundered after shifting out and bumping ALPINEFIELD which was hampered. ONGOING VOLATILITY then lost its right front plate in the early stages.
When being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier in the early stages, DANEWIN EXPRESS got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle.
Also from wide barriers, RED DANCER and BUDDY BUDDIES were taken across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1600 Metres, ALPINEFIELD shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ONGOING VOLATILITY which became unbalanced.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DRAGON FIGHTER was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FLYING UNICORN which shifted in.
Passing the 1100 Metres, LUCKY HAMMER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FLYING UNICORN which shifted in when not properly clear. FLYING UNICORN was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to LUCKY HAMMER and allowed to stride forward of that horse before crossing to the rail near the 1000 Metres.
After the 1100 Metres, ONGOING VOLATILITY proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZINGLY.
Passing the 400 Metres, ONGOING VOLATILITY was checked away from the heels of AMAZINGLY and then shortly after entering the Straight was shifted out away from the heels of BUDDY BUDDIES to obtain clear running.
Near the 150 Metres, ONGOING VOLATILITY was shifted further to the outside of ALPINEFIELD to continue into clear running.
Throughout the race, MIGHTY K travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, T Berry stated that INVICTUS did not feel comfortable in its action during the race and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of INVICTUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, INVICTUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY HAMMER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ONGOING VOLATILITY immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ONGOING VOLATILITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
LUCKY HAMMER, VICTORY HERO and FLYING UNICORN were sent for sampling.
